Ich zitiere gerne die besondere Geschichte dieser Pfeife:

"t h e b e n t b i l l a r d
this is my winning pipe for the pipes & tobaccos pipe carving contest 2001
it is one of the reasons why I try to start selling my pipes. it is very good to hear that my work recieves recognition...

I made this one because some friends mentioned the 1/2 bent Billard from Dunhill to be one of "THE" classical shapes. So I tried one and I had the big luck to get this wood. the Briar is close to over all symmetric and has a very nice contrast. but this is something you can see by your own :-))

the pipe is about a 4 in size when compared to a Dunhill. a touch of a thinner and more elegant shank and of course it is not so much bent. but I guess that is my personal feeling.....I hope you like it too ! "

A very unusual pipe. A little insperation from Peter and Trever. A little design from me and a very nice block of briar. Well I think it is a nice one but I know that I am not objective :-) The grainlines flow like a wave over one side and concentrate at one point on the other. So you have two very different looking sides seperated by a sharp line. The mouthpiece is on the top of the bowlside. "

Ich zitiere von seiner HP:

An unusual shape. Very large bolw. And an unusual name. The reason why it is called "From Graz to Milano" !! A distance you need at least 6 hours to drive with a car at everage traffic :-) And that is the reason for the name. Big bowls need big time to smoke. It is for sure not my usual cup of tea to smoke pipes with such a capacity. Though the pipe is not as large as a super giant from other makers. to me it is one of the largest I have ever made. Not heavy at all and for sure not difficult to hold between the teeth. Overall it is very light to my surprise and should be very comfortable to hold.
The Briar called for this form and I was lucky to hear that :-) As I showed this one to some friends they where drolling over it and asked me when they could have it and how much it is."

Seine Pfeifen und das Holz sind einfach genial.

Ich zitiere wieder von seiner HP:

not a Lovat not a Billard not a Cannadian...... a little bit of freehand and a little bit of classic.

it all started with a strange block. long but difficult grain plus some funny edges. at first I had no idea how to get a nice pipe out of it. then during the shaping I had to change the original idea more then only one time. as I reached the certain point I had the idea of an oversized bowl height and some other than usual propotrions. for that I had to change the style of the mouthpiece aswell and so I decided to do a saddle but with two different lines and heights. the little curve adds an intresting eyecatcher...

as I showed the pipe to Mr. Dreier of the Pipe Shop here in Graz he decided to better never give it back to me again..... well now I guess I started to sell my pipes. so this is the beginning...."

Ein Wahsinnsteil?

Ich zitiere von der HP:

yes this is my way of a stylish vulcano shape...some extra curve on the shank. the two curves of the pipe meets under the bowl shank point and create some interresting aspect. a tall bowl with excelent graining and beautiful thight birdeyes on the bottom. as I made this one I thought it has to end up in my rotation but a very special friend was faster ......................................happy smoking !"

this is a "c" grade straightgrain with wunderfull birdeyes on the bowlbottom. the grain runs from the bowltop all over the sides to the bottom. the shape was inspired by the aerodynamic shapes of some planes or racing cars and by the now so popular organic forms in the architecture. I could easily smoke this one on my racingbike without any loss of my aerodynamic shape :-)

there is one larger spot on the bowlbottom that I did not remove because of shape resons. but on the other side this grain is super cute !"

this is an "c" grade straightgrain freehand shape. the size is for my personal point of view a very very large one. but as the block showed up I had to make a large pipe to present the beautiful wood. looooots of grain and birdeyes for the lover of graining !"
