Hier ist folgendes über den Macher zu erfahren:

"Randy Wiley has been successfully making moderate to high priced pipes for over 23 years. Randy creates all his pipes from Plateau or Ebascean Grecian briar, which shapes are inspired by the briar's wood grain. He cautiously and carefully strives to get the best presentation from every briar block. He treats the briar with hot oil to enhance its beauty and smoking qualities, then uses a special sanding technique he calls a trade secret. What ever the secret is, it makes for a finish that is smooth as glass. Randy achieves a rich color stain for his pipes by custom mixing his stains until he gets exactly the effect he wants. Finally, all his pipes are finished with a buffed coat of carnauba wax. "

Zitat:
"This is fine example of the pipes we receive from Randy that we've dubbed "the Drunken Sitters". How did the template receive that particular moniker? Well, and this is tough to discern from the photos, but the pipe appears to be leaning to one side while it sits on its flattened base. The stem, rather than sticking straight up into the air, leans off to one side by about 20-degrees. It's very difficult to visualize because the interesting aspects of the pipe are designed to be discrete... that is until you set it on a table. An incredibly whimsical piece, and some of Randy's most imaginative work.

Zitat:
"Randy Wiley is an American artisan who has long laid claim to a well-earned reputation for creating fantastic smokers at affordable prices. This shape is quite fun, well balanced, amazingly comfortable in the paw (especially given the compression along the vertical axis) and features an adroit use of contrasting colors and textures. The fact that you get all of this and oil curing in the same package is quite an added bonus!

Zitat:
"There's something of a floral aspect to the tightly twisting grooves and planes of this Randy Wiley freehand, especially given the warm auburn-and-walnut hue of the finish. Despite the complex shaping, this briar is still surprisingly easy in hand, and the chamber has quite a taper as it nears its bottom, promising a very flavorful end to one's smoke.

"Sporting the finest and most consistent grain out of this update's batch of Wiley's, all the way from shank-end to rim, this briar makes for one gorgeous American dublin. Even the rather large birdseye of the rim is perfectly contained. The shaping itself is smooth and seamless, yet still possessing of a masculine boldness.
