I'm sorry the photos are so dull. I'm having issues with my camera it seems. Also, there are no red blotches in the front view as appears on my monitor at least.

I really like this pipe for its striking grain and its organic looks and feel.

Zitat: "The third in a series of sculpted pipes that follow a similar design. In this version, I have focused on more detail and finer tolerances. The lines are balanced and flowing. The grain is stunning. There is a pit visible on the lower left side in the photo.

At 45 grams, it is very light weight for such an elaborate design. To accomplish this, I kept the bowl walls to a minimum. In most places they are 3/8". The minimum is 1/4". This of course applies only to areas without flanges and protrusions. In those areas the walls are much thicker.

The Tom Bombadil Special

Zitat: "I have long felt an affinity with the "Lord of the Rings" Tom Bombadil character. His deep connection to nature and his mastery of the magic of existence were the inspirations for this pipe.

I have a special attraction to bridgework, which to me, in the artistic sense, represent esoteric doorways or portals. The bridgework in this pipe moves a strong basic design into other dimensions of space and time--figuratively speaking.

In this virgin finish pipe, I have tried to marry the pure and strong qualities of the briar, with movement, and a sense of the magic inherent in nature.

Comments: Virgin finish--no stain or dye has been applied to this pipe. Buffing and waxing with pure carnauba is the only addition to the natural briar. There is a visible sandpit on the lower left side, but I think even old Tom would let this pass as a reminder that nature must always have the last say."

In the "Sculpted Series," this pipe follows it's predecessor, #114, in design. In this version I wanted to achieve a lower weight, and a slightly more conservative design, while maintaining the dynamics of it's older brother. My goal was to create powerful yet flowing forms and lines.

The feel is extremely ergonomic. The hand and fingers fall naturally into the forms. There are a couple flaws in the briar; one on the bottom, the other on the left side, concealed by the curved flange. I have begun using the "SC" prefix before the number on sculpted pipes.
