"Clearly heavily influenced by Danish shapes from the 1960s and 1970s (think of all of those Sixten designed Stanwells), this lovely piece sports nice grain, especially on the left side of the bowl. I've long been a fan of Danish shapes where the bottom of the bowl extends below the line of the bottom of the shank and it's executed here, albeit in a rather more Teutonic, structured way than would be approached by a Dane. The black bamboo is a nice contrast to the bengal orange stain on the bowl and is almost whimsical by German pipe aesthetic standards. This is a really striking piece, and available at an impressively good price too!
