Peterson c. 1950 Dublin & London Bulldog--Unsmoked

So popular did Peterson pipes become that they opened a London factory. The London production was notably superior to the Irish in terms of quality of briar and most especially finish and execution. Here is a high grade "Dublin and London" (named to commemorate the twin workshops) that is cut as a classic saddle bit bulldog. The briar is densely grained plateaux, stained a rich amber brown, and is notably well proportioned, with a good Group 4 capacity. It is fitted with a traditional "P" lip stem, hand cut from high grade vulcanite.

Best of all, the pipe is unsmoked and in perfect condition, looking essentially as it did when first sold more than 50 years ago. Peterson's are known for their distinct but mysterious affinity for Virginias, whether ribbon cut or flake, and this pipe should be no exception. However, because the briar was aged longer and more carefully than the Irish version, it should be much easier to break in. A very nice pipe indeed.
