Dunhill 1930 Bruyere Apple Shape 186 "Ao" grade

A very beautiful, almost sculptural shape that I suspect was hand-turned, rather than being made on a frasing machine, and of which this is the only example I have seen. Note the symmetrical bow, and how it is articulated from the rather stout, but very well balanced shank. Note also the symmetrically tapered bit of ideal width for holding in the teeth. This example is marked Ao, which is the highest grade of Bruyere short of the DR; it is very well-grained, and has the rich, almost luminous pre-War color. Condition is outstanding, but for somewhat weak stampings, a common problem in pipes from the '30's.
