Hallo hej hej pfiefenfreunden & Stanwell enthusiasten! Bitte verzeihen Sie mein Englisch!
I want to thank you for all the work in compiling the Stanwell database, it has proved to be an invaluable resource for me and I plan to contribute some of my own images into the files also. Such a comprehensive reference is a true achievement! Congratulations! I think you have assembled the world's only catalogue raisonné for Stanwell!
I highly recommend the new book by Jan Andersson: Scandinavian Pipemakers!!! http://briarbooks.com/Scandinavian_Pipemakers.html The first chapter is about Stanwell!!!! It tells us about St. Annn's Well, which is a story I had never heard.
My favorite shape is the 63M and I was lucky enough to win a very special example on eBay.de recently, little did I know what I was getting! There was only one photograph of the pipe in side profile -- when the pipe arrived, I was astonished and exhilarated to see a beautiful stamp: TE in an oval, so then I knew it was one of the pipes that Tom Eltang had chosen to take with him on his tours of German pipe-shops!!!! Can you perhaps tell me from what time period this pipe may be from? At what time was Tom Eltang touring Germany? I have read that also after the pipe had been finished as the customer requested, there was in addition a special certificate to go along with it, does anyone know what these looked like? I am very happy and proud that someone had the great taste to bravely smoke oFi 63M and chose such a wonderful pipe! This pipe is now my Holy Grail. It is even better than my FlameGrain 63M! Here is the picture from the auction:
Question: I would very much like to acquire a pipe from the website EstatePipes.de. Do you know if the site is up-to-date in regard to what is in stock? Is Mr. Rajek a trustworthy and reliable gentleman to do business with? I am unsure of the bank transfer method, this is something that most Americans are not very familiar with, but I am sure it is possible.
Did you happen to see these recent auctions of Sixten Ivarsson pipes?
Perhaps the rarest 63M is the Venturi, I don't think I will ever find one!
Now I'm going to post this to see if everything comes out correctly.
Warm regards from Dixieland!
.troy
P.S. My silly forum-name is a little like Finnish, if I want to change or edit this name, is it possible? Suomen kieli on vaikeaa, mutta kauniin ja ainutlaatuisen näy laitteen viestintään!
